Disclaimer

Cottage STR Licence Lab is an independent educational resource published by Marc Stevens. It is not legal, tax, insurance or professional advice, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by any municipality, the Province of Ontario or the Canada Revenue Agency.

Municipal by-laws, fees and deadlines change, sometimes without notice. We summarize official sources as of the "last checked" date (October 9, 2026), and we may make mistakes. The official municipal by-law and the municipality's staff are always the final authority. Using this site does not make your rental compliant.

Before relying on anything here, confirm it with the municipality and, where appropriate, a lawyer, accountant or insurance broker.

This site collects no personal information. The map uses the open-source Leaflet library (hosted on this site) and loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap.
